Profhilo is a popular anti-ageing treatment and is the perfect solution for skin that is lacking in elasticity and volume. Profhilo is known for its high concentration of hyaluronic acid (HA); – a substance that is naturally found in various parts of the body. The use of hyaluronic acid acts to improve the firmness of the skin as it works to increase the levels of your skin’s hydration.
Profhilo treatments work by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin to improve the skin’s tone, as well as improving hydration and subsequently the diminishing of fine lines and wrinkles. Profhilo has a slow release characteristic that gives the patient longer-lasting results. It uses a less dense form of Hyaluronic Acid and is injected into the outer layers of the skin.
Profhilo can be used virtually anywhere on the body that has loose, inelastic skin. Common areas include the face, the jowls, the neck, the arms, and the legs.
Dermal fillers are suitable for treating volume loss whereas Profhilo aims to treat skin laxity and hydrate. Prohilo is a more watery fluid and is designed to spread out from the injection site; dermal fillers are thicker and designed to not to move. Both treatments contain hyaluronic acid but in different formulations. Profhilo also binds to water to increase its hydration effect.

Depending on your natural ageing process and your lifestyle, the Profhilo treatment should last up to 6 months. This will vary from patient to patient.
A lot of patients will see a visible improvement within a week or two but maximum benefits are usually showing after 6 to 8 weeks following the treatment.
As with most injectable treatments, there will be a degree of discomfort. We offer a numbing cream to numb the injection sites but some patients do not opt for this.
When performed by a trained and experienced practitioner in a clinical environment, Profhilo is regarded as a safe treatment. As with other products containing HA, there are risks. These include infection, (Rare when the correct procedures are followed), and allergic reactions, (Also rare) Due to the fact HA is classed as biocompatible it is highly unlikely that you will ever experience mild bruising and/or mild swelling at the sites of the injections.
Profhilo is one of those treatments that people don’t tend to notice you have had. People may comment you are looking healthier, less tired, etc, but there will be no clues that you have had an aesthetic treatment as such.
Some patients will notice swellings in the places where the Profhilo has been administered, yes. These swellings tend to disappear within 6 hours of having the treatment.
After the Profhilo treatment please refrain from vigorous exercise for 1-2 days. Excessive exposure to heat (Eg Saunas) should be avoided for the next 5 days. As will all treatments it is best to let things settle down and allow the area to heal for a few days if you can. You will be provided with aftercare advice and information to help you get the most out of your Profhilo treatment.
Traditional skin boosters contain HA, so does Profhilo. The difference is the fact that Profhilo contains 2 forms of HA at different molecular weights to maximise the dual effect of regeneration of collagen and elastin, coupled with excellent hydration results. Another difference, depending on the skin booster in question, is that in general, fewer injections are required to achieve the same effects.
